The Skinny on OTC Wart Removal Medications

No one wants to walk around with a wart somewhere on their body, whether it is plainly visible or not. That being said, there is a huge market out there for wart removal medications that can be used at home, which is why so many medicine manufacturers keep producing new over the counter cures. Many people prefer using an over the counter medications rather than visiting a doctor, so that they save money, don’t have to take time off of work, and don’t have to let anyone know about their wart.

You can find OTC wart removal medications at almost any retail store in your local area, such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart, grocery stores, health food stores, and pharmacies. Some dollar stores even carry these medications as well. You don’t have to have a prescription from your doctor to get these medications, you simply go in, pick out the one that you want to use, pay for it, and bring it home. You don’t have to see the doctor; you just have to take a little shopping trip!

Another reason that so many people opt for using an OTC wart medicine is because they are often much more affordable than prescription treatments. Depending on the type of product you choose, you could spend anywhere from $5 to $50. There are many different brands to pick from. You also will need to decide whether you want to use a bandage type wart remover, a cream or gel, or a freezing option.

Currently, the freezing wart removers seem to be the most popular, possibly because they are most similar to the type of wart remover typically used in a doctor’s office. All of these OTC products are basically created the same way, the main difference just being the retail price of them. Price doesn’t really affect how well the product will work for you, so if you can find one that is cheaper than the rest, don’t hesitate to take the deal.

If you just don’t like the idea of the freeze off medications, then you might want to think about using one of the bandage-type products. A big allure that these medications also have over the freeze off medications is that they are usually a lot less expensive, meaning that they can fit into almost any budget. Again, the price will vary from brand to brand, but most of these medications start at around $3.00. The downside is that these products don’t work as quickly as the freeze-off products do, and that in the end, you will probably have spent just as much money, but again, that is your choice to make.

Keep in mind, that no OTC wart medication is guaranteed, and that you may have to try several different products to find the one that will work for you. One product may work for one person the first time, and the same product may not work for you at all. Make certain you closely follow the directions, for safety’s sake.
