The inside Scoop on Laser Wart Removal

Odds are, you have already likely heard of the wonders of laser hair removal, as it is gaining in popularity more and more everyday. Laser hair removal not only removes body hair, but can prevent it from growing back. Well, now that same technology is being used in wart removal. It not only gets rid of the wart, but pretty much guarantees that another one won’t grow back in its place.

The downside is that laser wart removal is something that has to be done by a qualified professional in a medical office. You can’t do it yourself in the privacy of your own home. Some individual dermatologists do laser wart removal, but you are more likely to find it in a specialized treatment center. These centers primarily treat patients with problems that can be corrected with the use of laser technology, such as vision problems, wart removal, scarring, and of course, unwanted body hair.

If you don’t know of any centers near you that offer laser wart removal, your doctor may be able to give you a referral, or at least point you in the right direction. You can always do some research online or in your local telephone book as well.

Odds are, you will first be scheduled for a consultation, where you will be examined, and will point out any warts that you would like to have removed. If you have a referral, you may skip this initial consultation appointment, it will vary from provider to provider, especially if your medical records have been sent to the treatment center along with your referral.

It is a good idea to go to your consultation appointment, where you will get a more in depth explanation of the procedure, and what you should expect. In general, the laser is used to cutoff blood flow to the wart, therefore killing it, which in time will make it fall off.

In many cases, this is a fairly pain-free procedure. You will likely be coated with a numbing gel, and may be told to take an OTC pain reliever, such as Tylenol. But complications and pain after the procedure are rare, and many people go straight back to work when the procedure is done.

Another bonus of laser wart removal is that it is also safe for children as well. It can be used to remove warts found anywhere on the body, even the more sensitive areas. If you think you would be interested in this type of procedure, look for a laser center nearest you, and call for more information. You can also use the Internet to find testimonials and more detailed information as well.
